Pink Life Association has released the 2022-2023 LGBTI+ and Trans Media Monitoring Report. The report systematically examines news articles produced by internet news websites in Turkey concerning the LGBTI+ and transgender communities for the years 2022 and 2023. According to the report, 4,494 articles were analyzed in 2022, and this number increased to 7,567 in 2023.
The report reveals a 77% increase in the use of discriminatory, stigmatizing, and othering expressions from 2022 to 2023. Among these expressions are terms such as pervert/perverted, marginal, terrorist, disease, sin, immoral, guilty, propaganda, lobby, and imposition.
